In short
- Seshara works without an account. By default your attendance is stored only on your device.
- If you choose to sign in, we store your email address and your attendance records so you can back them up and restore them on another device.
- If you buy a skin, Google Play handles the payment. We receive a purchase record so we can check it with Google Play and unlock the skin.
- No ads. No analytics or tracking SDKs. We never sell your data or share it for advertising.
- You can export your data at any time and ask us to delete your account.
Who we are
Seshara Attendance (“Seshara”) is made by Guildartz Studio, an independent, one-person development studio in India. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean Guildartz Studio. You can reach us at the address in Contact.
Seshara is a planning aid for tracking class attendance. It is not an official attendance record.
This policy covers the Seshara app. The Guildartz Studio website has its own website privacy policy.
Data on your device
When you use Seshara without signing in, everything you enter stays in your browser or app storage on your device:
- subject names, classes attended and classes held, and each subject's colour;
- your target percentage, classes per week and weeks remaining;
- your most recent present and absent marks, used for undo and history;
- your display choices, such as the selected theme or skin, and a list of the skins your account owns.
This data is not sent to us. When you export a JSON backup or a CSV report, the file is created on your device and goes wherever you choose to save or share it. When you import a backup, the app reads only the file you pick, on your device.
If you sign in
Signing in is optional. You sign in with your email address, using a one-time code sent to that address or a passkey. If you sign in, we store:
- Your email address, to identify your account and let you sign in.
- Your attendance records: the subject details listed above, with the time each was last changed and a marker for subjects you deleted, so deletions sync across your devices.
We use this data only to back up your attendance and keep it in sync between your devices. We don't use it for anything else.
Skin purchases
Seshara's attendance features are free. Optional premium skins are one-time in-app purchases through Google Play. Google processes the payment; we never see your card, UPI or bank details.
When you buy a skin, the app sends the purchase token from Google Play to our server, linked to your signed-in account. Our server checks the purchase with Google Play's developer service and then stores:
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Product ID (which skin or bundle) | To know which skins to unlock |
| Purchase token and Google Play order ID | To confirm the purchase with Google Play and stop one purchase being claimed by another account |
| Purchase time | To keep a record of when the skin was unlocked |
Google's handling of your payment is covered by Google's own privacy policy.
VIP codes
The studio sometimes gives VIP codes to friends and family that unlock skins without payment. If you redeem one while signed in, we store which account redeemed the code and when, and add the unlocked skins to your account. We keep only a scrambled (hashed) form of each code, never the code itself. To limit guessing, we also record the time of each redeem attempt against your account and allow five attempts an hour.
What we don't do
- We don't show ads, and we don't include advertising SDKs.
- We don't include analytics, crash-reporting or tracking SDKs.
- We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with anyone for advertising or marketing.
- We don't access your contacts, location, camera or microphone, and the app opens a file only when you choose one to import.
Service providers
We rely on two services to run Seshara. They process data only to provide these services to us:
- Hatchable hosts the web app and our server, provides email-code and passkey sign-in, and stores account and attendance data for signed-in users.
- Google Play distributes the Android app, processes skin payments and confirms purchases to our server.
Seshara's fonts and images are served from Seshara's own site, not from third-party font or image services. We may disclose data if the law requires it.
Keeping and deleting data
- On your device: data stays until you delete subjects in the app, clear the app's storage or uninstall it.
- In your account: attendance records stay while your account exists. Subjects you delete in the app are removed from your active data and kept only as a deletion marker so other devices remove them too.
- VIP attempts: the redeem-attempt times are used only to limit guessing.
- Account deletion: email us from the address you signed in with and we will delete your account, your attendance records, your purchase and VIP records and your redeem attempts, except where the law requires us to keep a record of a transaction.
Security
Data sent between the app and our server is encrypted in transit with HTTPS. Account data is only available to your signed-in account. No system is perfectly secure, so we keep the data we hold to the minimum the app needs.
Children
Seshara is made for college students. It is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Your choices
- Use Seshara without an account, so nothing leaves your device.
- Export your data as JSON or CSV at any time from the app's Data screen.
- Ask us for a copy of the account data we hold, a correction, or deletion.
Changes to this policy
If Seshara starts handling data differently, we will update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect. Significant changes will also be noted in the app.
